2020 was one of the most stressful, exhausting, gratifying, and celebrated summers in all of Camp Wildwood history. It is impossible to describe our range of emotions - most notably our deep appreciation for the chance to be together in Maine - from the opening day fireworks to the moment the buses pulled out of our parking lot. As one of the boys said at our final campfire, “no matter what is going on in the world, I’ll always come back home to Camp Wildwood.”
Thank you for entrusting your boys with us during this unprecedented time. The collective energy of our entire camp, the boys’ appreciation for being with their friends, and everyone’s dedication to protecting each other truly represents “The Wildwood Way”; from our administration, staff, parents, and campers, our “All In” mentality gave us a summer that could never be replaced.
THE CAMP WILDWOOD BUBBLE
How did we do it? Safe at Home, Safe at Camp.
All campers and staff members had to quarantine for 14 days, provide a negative COVID test result prior to arrival and test negative upon arrival before entering camp. Over 500 nasal and saliva COVID tests were performed over a 72 hour period before and after camper arrival.
From the start, mask wearing along with constant hand washing and surface sanitizing were a focal point.
Over 11,000 daily symptom checks were performed on all campers and staff before breakfast and dinner.
Digital thermometers were used 8,400 times to check camper and staff temperatures on a daily basis.
Daily schedule included age group centric activities to start the summer. As the summer went on, half camp and full camp activities were mixed into the schedule as well.
